DHR to Issue Some June Food Benefits Early in Disaster Designated Counties

MONTGOMERY - As part of the state's response to the tornado relief effort, current food assistance recipients in 27 disaster-designated counties will receive their June benefits early if they regularly receive their benefits after the 10th day of the month.

 

June food benefits will be available on June 10, 2011  to current recipients who normally receive their benefits after the 10th of the month in Bibb, Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Chilton, Colbert ,Cullman, DeKalb, Elmore, Etowah, Fayette, Franklin, Hale, Jackson, Jefferson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Morgan, St. Clair, Talladega, Tallapoosa, Tuscaloosa, and Walker Counties.

 

Recipients who are scheduled to receive their benefits before the 10th of the month will be issued their June benefits on their regularly scheduled date. Food assistance benefits are normally issued on a staggered schedule between the 4th and the 18th of each month.

 

Families in the affected counties do not have to do anything to receive their benefits on June 10.

 

The Alabama Department of Human Resources operates the food assistance program according to regulations set forth by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
